Off-Road Motorcycle Accident Injures Evansdale Man

An Evansdale man has sustained a serious injury in a motorcycle accident in Waterloo.

It happened at about 3pm Sunday, in the 1700 block of Black Hawk Road. 19 year old Joseph Pietan was apparently driving his motorcycle dirt bike on a private trail, when he hit a tree while rounding a curve in the off-road trail.

Pietan fell off his bike and hit his head on the tree.

Pietan was initially taken to Covenant Hospital, but later was airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City, in serious condition, with a possible skull fracture.

His injuries were not life-threatening.

Waterloo Police investigated.
