Oelwein Couple Hurt When Motorcycle Hits Deer

An Oelwein couple remains hospitalized, after their motorcycle collided with a deer near Hazleton.

The accident happened at about 7:30pm Wednesday, just east of Hazleton on 118th Street in rural Buchanan County.

51 year old Corey "Jay" Sandhagen was driving west, when his motorcycle struck the deer. Both he and his passenger, 48 year old Karla Sandhagen, were thrown off the bike.

The couple was initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. A condition report was not available.
