With sole possession of second-place in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) men's basketball race on the line, No. 20 UNI survived Indiana State's upset bid Wednesday night (January 21, 2015).

The Panthers extended their home win streak to 13 in a row with a 66-60 victory over Indiana State at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls. UNI (17-2, 6-1 MVC) led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but had to rally after falling behind in the second half for its sixth consecutive win this season.

UNI drained seven first-half three-pointers en route to a 31-23 lead at the half. Junior Matt Bohannon (Marion, Iowa) scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the first half, draining a game-high five three-pointers in the win against the Sycamores.

Indiana State (9-10, 5-2 MVC) took a 47-46 lead with 6:40 left in the game following a bucket by Justin Gant, who's basket capped an 11-0 run by the Sycamores.

UNI responded with 13-straight free throws, taking a 63-55 lead with 41.1 seconds left. Indiana State got to within three points at 63-60 following a pair of free throws by Devonte Brown. UNI's Seth Tuttle (Sheffield, Iowa) added three more free throws in the closing 14 seconds to ice the victory.

The Panthers travel to Illinois State on Sunday for a 3 p.m. game at Redbird Arena.

NOTES: Bohannon moved up to No. 8 on UNI's all-time three-pointers made list in the game as he drained five three-pointers ... Bohannon has made 147 career three-pointers and surpassed both Chris Foster and Maurice Newby against the Sycamores ... Tuttle made his 120th career start to move into a tie for second on the Panthers's all-time starts list with Ben Jacobson.
