Thanks to Nirvana Fans, a Nirvana Musical Could Happen

Courtney Love, a constant source of entertaining news, told NME that she’s reconsidering the possibility of producing a musical about her late husband, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. She denounced the idea when it first came up, but apparently a bunch of, we’re sure well-meaning, Nirvana fans flooded Love with requests begging her to green-light a musical version.

Love would never proceed with this plan without full confidence that efforts to turn her husband’s story of pain and tragedy into a song-and-dance act will be of the highest quality. She said she would “…devote countless hours with an A-team to create a project that reflects Kurt in the most respectful but honest way possible…”

As long-time, die-hard Nirvana fans, we had our doubts about the prospect of setting the life of a generation’s voice, which was cut short by his own hands, to some peppy tunes and fantastic dance numbers. But with Love’s assurances, we feel comforted and excited about getting to Broadway to see what will undoubtedly be a magical moment in musical history.

In the interview, the Hole frontlady also talked about other plans to honor her late husband’s life and her bank account. She mentioned the possibility of a documentary, as well as a biopic. No word on whether ‘Kurt and Courtney’ director Nick Broomfield will be brought on to help with the documentary, though.

Whatever happens, it can’t be worse than Kurt Cobain being resurrected, along with Tupac Shakur, Bruce Lee and John Lennon, to sell beer.
