An Independence man faces a list of charges, for hiding from authorities after an alleged attack on his wife.

On Thursday, Independence Police responded to the report of a woman screaming, and a man pulling her back into a house, in the 700 block of 8th Avenue in Independence.

When officers arrived, the victim, Brittany McNeese, stated that George McNeese had scratched her face and left marks on her neck when he tried to pull her necklace off.

George then took Brittany's vehicle, driving without a valid license.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the 900 block of 10th Avenue NE in Independence.

A K-9 from the Manchester police department was used to track George, later found in the woods, east of Malone Creek. McNeese had ran into the woods, crossed the creek, and was hiding under a pile of grass clippings.

When he was taken into custody, authorities discovered McNeese had two active warrants for his arrest: one for possession of methamphetamine 3rd offense from Fayette County, and another for a probation violation for eluding and reckless driving, from Buchanan County.

McNeese was held in the Buchanan County jail.
