NE Iowan Dies from Accident Involving a School Bus

An accident involving a car and a school bus has now turned deadly.
The accident happened Monday (Oct. 24) at about 3:40pm, on Highway 151 near Springville. A bus had stopped to drop off students, when it was rear-ended by a car driven by 26 year old Molly Zelinskas of Dubuque.

Zelinskas had to be extricated from the wreckage; she was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, with what were described as life-threatening injuries.

According to a local funeral home, Zelinskas died from her injuries on Tuesday (Oct. 25).

The driver of the bus was identified as 42 year old Cary Nelson of Springville; she was not injured.

Just one of 6 students on board the bus was treated for minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
