Northeast Iowa Man Dies In Fiery Delaware County Accident
A northeast Iowa man has died in a fiery two-vehicle accident in Delaware County.
The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Russell Faust, 60, of Dyersville.
Authorities said Faust was killed when his van rear-ended a semi that had just entered the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 20 from County Road X-47, near the town of Delaware. Faust's van caught fire, trapping him inside.
The semi driver, Davis Steger, 54, of Colesburg, was not injured.
The crash happened just before 7 PM happened on Tuesday night (Dec. 11, 2018).
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Delaware County sheriff's officials, Delaware Police and Fire, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Iowa Department of Transportation.
