A West Union man is in jail, after arranging to meet a young girl at an area park for sex.

The investigation began Sunday, when the Fayette County sheriff took a report of a man trying to entice young girls to meet with him, in and around the West Union area.

Authorities learned that a 15 year old girl was approached on the social media outlet Facebook, and was asked to meet at a local park.

Investigators monitored the interactions, working closely with the victim's family. It was determined that the person enticing the girl was 25 year old Robert Lippstock of West Union, formerly of Dubuque.

Lippstock apparently knew how old the girl was, but still arranged to meet her at a West Union park to engage in a sex act.

On Tuesday, authorities arranged the meeting with Lippstock, and found him at a predetermined destination.

Lippstock tried to get away, but was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.

The sheriff then executed a search warrant at Lippstock's home, seizing computers and cell phones for evidence.

He is now being charged with enticing a minor with the intent of an illegal sex act, interference with official acts, and two counts of assault on a peace officer not causing serious injury.

Lippstock is being held on $10,000 bond. If he is convicted, he could face up to 8 years in prison.

West Union Police assisted the Fayette County Sheriff in the investigation.
