Authorities are looking for a suspect who held up an Northeast Iowa bank, while wearing a purple beard.

The incident happened at about 2pm Wednesday, at the Wells Fargo bank in Shellsburg.

According to the bank's tellers, a white man entered the bank, armed with a black handgun, and demanded money.

He fled on foot, east on Jones Street in Shellsburg; bank employees then called 911. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, 5'4" tall, in his late 20's or early 30's, wearing a black calf-length trench coat, black jeans, blue baseball cap with white lettering, black-framed glasses, and a fake purple beard with white elastic straps.

Anyone with information on the incident, is asked to contact the Benton County Sheriff's office (319-472-2337).

Also involved in the investigation, are the FBI, Shellsburg Police, Iowa DCI, Iowa State Patrol, and DOT-Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
