Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson was in attendance as Chris Cornell was laid to rest in a private ceremony on May 26, and shared her impressions with fans by posting a heartfelt recollection of the service.

In a Facebook update posted following the memorial, Wilson described it as "a beautiful gathering of the Seattle clan with band friends, kids and family," praising the Seattle community as "so full of love and loyalty" before offering an overview of the attendees and their remarks.

"There were many tears and some very knowing laughs along the way. As it goes," wrote Wilson. Her post touched on appearances by Tom Morello ("brought radical energy big and clear to the church of the rock congregation") and Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament ("completely real and incredibly cool") as well as drummer Matt Cameron, who's spent recent years pulling double duty between Pearl Jam and Soundgarden ("brave, honest and strong"). Wilson also shared a bit of the eulogy offered by Cornell's longtime bandmate Kim Thayil, who spoke to Cornell's children.

"Always an unlikely father figure for us all in Seattle, he had wonderful words for Chris’ kids, as did each and everyone who spoke," Wilson recalled. "Those kids have such a fantastic support system of 'uncles.' He told them how someday when they are a bit older he will tell them some of 'those stories.'"

While touching on the highlights, Wilson pointed out that "Every single speaker there was beyond great" and added that she wished there were transcripts of their remarks. "This is the village and community I’ve always been so proud to be a part of," she concluded. "A real family."
