Motorist Charged After Driving into Sewage Lagoon

A Northeast Iowa man faces charges after accidentally driving his pickup into a sewage lagoon.
Shortly after midnight Monday (Dec. 7), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a suspicious vehicle, north of St. Lucas, in the St. Lucas waste water treatment lagoons.

Investigating officers found that 37 year old Steven Langreck of Hawkeye had fallen asleep at the wheel. His pickup traveled into a ditch, through a fence, and into a sewage lagoon.

Langreck was not injured, but the 2008 Chevrolet 2500 pickup was totaled.

Langreck is charged with failure to maintain control. Additional charges are still pending.
