Two people suffered serious injuries when their side-by-side motorcycles collided with each other in Buchanan County over the weekend.

According to sheriff's officials, Todd Miller of Independence was airlifted from the scene and flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. James Worthy of Stanley was taken by ambulance to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, but was later transferred to another hospital for treatment. The injuries to both men were serious, authorities said.

Sheriff's officials said Miller's Kawasaki motorcycle and Worthy's Harley Davidson were next to each other, going northbound, when they collided in the 2800 block of Quasqueton Ave. (County Road W35) while negotiating a curve.

The crash happened south of Quasqueton around 4:25 p.m. Saturday (June 24, 2017).
