Let's face it, stress is a part of life, but some deal with stress better than others. Where you live might be a factor in that stress, so which city in the Cedar Valley is the most 'stressed out' towns?

Zippia recently released their list of the most stressed out communities in the state of Iowa. Factors they considered included: cities with a population of over 5,000, percent of population with a long commute, unemployment rate, hours worked, population density, percent of income spent on rent, and percentage of population without health insurance.

Lucky for us, not a single area town made the Top 20. Waterloo topped the list of the most stressed out towns in the Cedar Valley (Black Hawk & Bremer counties).

"The Loo" came in at number 29 overall in the Hawkeye State. Cedar Falls came in as the second most stressed out town (ranked 41st overall). Both were pushed up the list largely due to high rent. According to Zippia's research, over 50% of the residents in both neighboring communities pay a higher than normal rent.

Waverly ranked third in the Cedar Valley (64th overall). Although rent was a factor, it was the longer commute times that added to their stress levels.

No other city made the list, but that's probably due to the population minimum of 5,000 to even be considered by Zippia in the study.

One interesting thing we noticed about the Top 10 list for the entire state was that Des Moines, Iowa City, nor any of the larger towns in the Hawkeye state sat as the stressed out capital. With only a population of only 5,526, Anamosa ranked as the most stressed town in Iowa. Community times was the biggest contributor to their unflattering honor of being number one. A prison might add a little stress as well, although not in the mathematical formula.
