There were more traffic deaths in 2016 than any other year since 2008. It's time to start paying attention, buckling up and put the phones down.

According to the yearly report from the Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa traffic death breached the 400 mark in 2016. In total, Iowa saw 401 traffic deaths in 2016. That's 81 more than 2015. October saw the most traffic deaths in 2016 with 40.

Drunk driving, buzzed driving, distracted driving, texting and driving, and mobile use while driving are the main causes of most accidents in Iowa. So let's make it a point to buckle up, get a sober ride and stop using our mobile devices while we drive.
