If you’re not getting enough of Washington D.C.’s seedy underbelly reading the New York Times every morning, keep an eye out for Miss Sloane later this fall. Jessica Chastain stars in the film as a lobbyist who squares off with the all-powerful gun lobby. (“There’s over five million of us. And we’re armed.”) In the teaser above, Chastain flashes that same steely glare that made her such an incredible asset in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty.

Miss Sloane teams Chastain with director John Maddenwho previously made stuff like Shakespeare in LoveThe DebtThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and an extremely popular line of football video games. (I think; I don’t have time to fact-check that last one, so I’m just going to assume that’s correct.) Here’s the official plot synopsis:

MISS SLOANE is the story a ruthless lobbyist (Jessica Chastain) who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk. The thriller pulls back the curtain on how Capitol Hill games are played and won as Sloane faces off against the most influential powers in D.C.

I get a real Michael Clayton vibe from the trailer, and that’s a good thing; Jessica Chastain needs her Michael Clayton. If the country doesn’t implode on Election Day, this is something to look forward to this holiday season. Miss Sloane opens in theaters on December 9, 2016.
