Evansdale residents are being advised to boil their water until further notice.

According to city officials, Evansdale's water tower froze in the extreme cold and left the town without water for a while Monday night (Jan. 1, 2018).

Evansdale Water Works officials said in a Facebook post that the water has been restored, but pumps are being run manually. As a result, the system is currently operating at low pressure.

City officials said Evansdale residents will need to boil any water that will be consumed until at least Thursday. It's the earliest day they can have the required testing done to see if any bacteria entered the system.

Residents should boil water for one minute and let it cool, city officials said. At that point, residents can drink the water or use it for cooking or brushing their teeth.

To prevent further issues, city officials are urging Evansdale residents to keep a faucet trickling in the lowest part of their home until the water system is operating normally again.
