Man Arrested for Burglarizing Area Airport

Authorities have arrested an area man who allegedly broke into the Oelwein Municipal Airport.

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday (April 27), the Fayette County Sheriff took a report of a burglary at the Oelwein Municipal Airport, located just west of the city on 40th Street.

Following an investigation and some interviews, officers arrested 51 year old Michael Burton of Oelwein, on charges of 3rd-degree burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burton was discovered, apparently hiding out in a storage unit on 20th Street in Oelwein, where he was taken into custody without any further incident.
