Authorities have arrested a young man for allegedly setting fire to the city hall in Clarksville.

Fire crews were summoned to extinguish an apparent blaze inside the Clarksville City Hall on Saturday afternoon (July 22, 2017).

No one was hurt, but there was extensive damage to the building.

The cause of the fire, which began inside the building, was determined to be suspicious in nature.

Following an investigation, Butler County sheriff's officials arrested Nicholas Wessels, 23, of Clarksville. He is being charged with second-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief.

Clarksville police assisted in the investigation.
