A legend in late night television made his fond farewell last night. David Letterman made his final appearance on CBS's 'Late Show'. Whether you loved the guy, or hated the guy, he helped set the bar for what we expect after our local news.

In total across the two networks (CBS & NBC), Letterman created 6,028 episodes during his 33 year run.

During his opening monologue, he suggests what he 'might' do now that he has retired. We even saw his farewell speech to his staff. Plus, there were plenty of other Letterman antics/classics throughout it.

The classic Top 10 list featured things that Letterman always wanted to say to Dave. Celebrities came on stage to say something that they have always wanted to say to Dave.

Although it may be time for a new era to begin with 'Late Night', we'll miss Letterman's style of humor on the the late night scene.
