According to the National Weather Services in Des Moines, the latest winter storm is expected to roll through the area overnight tonight and continue into Tuesday, February 2, 2016. The NWS is predicting between eight to twelve inches to fall.

Snowfall is projected to start having an impact mainly after 1:00 AM Tuesday morning. Winds speeds could gust as high as 29 MPH. One to three inches of new snow accumulation overnight is possible.

The forecast calls for snow to continue throughout Tuesday. Snowfall could be heavy at times. The chance of precipitation is 100%, and three to seven inches of additional snow accumulation is possible through the day. Snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are possible.

Central Iowa looks to receive the heaviest amounts. The area between Denison and Fort Dodge could see as much as 12 to 18 inches of snowfall.

Blowing and drifting snow could complicate the situation. Wind speeds look to hit 20 to 25 MPH (ease northeast). Guest could reach 34 MPH. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Another one inch of snowfall is possible Tuesday night mainly before midnight. Blowing and drifting is also expect before midnight, then patchy blowing snow over night.
