Waterloo Police are detaining two teenagers, in connection with the city's latest shooting incident.

At about 8:30pm Wednesday, residents near the 300 block of Reed Street reported hearing several gunshots.

Officers found six 9mm shell casings in the road. Bullets had struck and damaged two homes and a car, but no one was injured.

Responding police spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle in the area at the time of the shooting, on Logan Avenue.

Authorities also reviewed the surveillance video at a nearby convenience store, which showed two teens putting a gun on a store shelf. They then took the gun and went to the store restroom. Police found the gun in the wastebasket of the restroom.

17 year old Shaquan Coffer of Waterloo and 17 year old Isaiah Jackson were taken into custody on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying weapons.
