Iowa State University's president Steven Leath has halted the 2014 VEISHEA celebration. Early Wednesday morning, a rowdy crowd cause damage near the school and injured one student. It also led to the arrest of two people.

The university says that during the riot that began late Tuesday night, people overturned cars and threw rocks at officers. One person was hurt when a light pole was knocked down. Authorities said that the victim was seriously injured and eventually Lifeflighted to Des Moines

During a news conference Wednesday, University President Leath said that the annual multi-day celebration on the ISU campus would be canceled after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Officials have not yet decided on future celebrations.
