A former two-time state champion from Waterloo has been suspended from the Iowa State Cyclones' wrestling team because of an assault allegation.

Marcus Harrington was recently arrested for striking another man in the face, breaking his jaw. The incident allegedly happened at an Ames apartment the evening of Aug. 22, 2015.

Harrington turned himself in to police on Thursday; a preliminary court hearing has been set for Sept. 14.

Iowa State Wrestling Coach Kevin Jackson suspended Harrington from the team indefinitely.

Harrington redshirted his freshmen season last year at Iowa State. He attended Waterloo West High School, where he posted a 149-32 career record and won a pair of individual state titles while wrestling for the Wahawks.
