The Iowa State Cyclones play Memphis in the Liberty Bowl on December 30th. Coach They are on pace to record a stat no other FBS team has ever done before.

The Cyclones (7-5) will travel to Memphis for the 2017 Liberty Bowl. It has been clear that the team that wins the turnover battle typically wins the game.

That understanding is in favor of Iowa State because they are the only FBS team that has not lost a fumble all season. If they can get through 60 more minutes of football without turning the ball over via a fumble, they will become the first team in FBS history to go through a whole season without giving the ball away by way of a fumble.

This is the first bowl appearance for Iowa State since they lost The Liberty Bowl to Tulsa in 2012. The Cyclones upset two top 5 ranked teams this year (Oklahoma & TCU) on their way to be one of the most likeable teams in the country. After going 3-9 last year, Head Coach Matt Campbell's first year on the job, the quick turn around of the Cyclones had the school sign Campbell to a six-year contract extension worth $22.5 million to not lose him after this winning season turn around.
