Iowa High School Volleyball Rankings - Thursday, October 2, 2014

More than a dozen teams in Northeast Iowa are featured in the latest Iowa high school volleyball rankings, released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Thursday (October 2, 2014).

In all, 13 teams from the region are ranked in four of the five classes.

The highest rated squad is Sumner-Fredricksburg, which remains No. 1 in Class-2A for a second-straight week. Behind the Cougars are three-time defending state champion Dike-New Hartford at No. 2 and Grundy Center at No. 7. Wapsie Valley and Denver are also among the top 15.

In Class-1A, Janesville has fallen one spot to third after being ranked second most of the season. Tripoli remains fourth, while Turkey Valley moved up one spot to ninth.

Independence remains the highest Northeast Iowa school in Class-3A, although the Mustangs fell one spot from third last week to fourth this week. Iowa Falls-Alden and La Porte City Union are also ranked among the top 10.

West Delaware remains the only unbeaten team in Class-4A, but the Hawks remain second in the rankings despite their 28-0 record. Also ranked among the top five is fourth-ranked Charles City.
