Iowa native Brett Moffit gets the call to drive for Michael Waltrip Racing this weekend in Atlanta. Moffitt will attempt to qualify for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

Moffitt is making a spot start in the No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota before Brian Vickers returns in Las Vegas next week. His best finish was a 22nd at Dover last year, when he started seven races in the No. 66 Toyota.

The 22-year-old Grimes, IA (Des Moines Metro) native has seven career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts, one XFINITY Series start (Top 10 finish), and two Camping World Truck Series starts.

Moffitt, a former Iowa dirt track stand out, is a nine-time winner in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition. He currently serves as a test driver for Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Michael Waltrip Racing. In 63 career NASCAR K&N Pro Series races, Moffitt has earned nine wins, 10 poles, 34 top-five finishes and 45 top-10 finishes.
