Officials working to solve the abduction and murders of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrissey in Evansdale are planning to hold a press conference to update the public on the investigation this morning (Tuesday, February 3, 2015).

According to Evansdale Police Chief Kent Smock, authorities plan to release some specific information related to the case at 10 a.m. today.

Smock and an agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation just returned from a meeting with a group of national experts in Alexandria, Virginia. They went to the headquarters of the National Center For Exploited and Missing Children to present their findings with the hope of getting suggestions on solving the two-year-old case.

Collins was 8-years-old and Cook-Morrissey was 10 when the cousins disappeared while riding their bicycles in Evansdale on July 13, 2012. Two hunters found the girls' bodies on December 5, 2012, in rural Bremer County, about 20 miles from where they were last seen.
