An inmate at a northeast Iowa jail faces more charges for allegedly assaulting jail staff members.

The incident happened at the Fayette County jail in West Union on Monday (Oct. 1, 2018), sheriff's officials said.

Deputies were called in to investigate. Authorities determined that Jeremy Meyer, 46, of West Union, allegedly assaulted some jail staff members.

Officials charged Meyer, who was already an inmate at the facility, with two with two counts of assault on correctional officers.
