According to sheriff's officials, a southbound pickup truck -- driven by Charles Hay, 79, of Denver -- went out-of-control on the ice-coated pavement. The vehicle crossed through the median and entered the northbound lanes, where it was struck broadside by a car.

Authorities identified the other driver as Joyce Pelton, 68, of Waterloo. They said no one was injured in the accident.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 63 south of Denver, shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 3, 2018).
