The Linn County sheriff is investigating an accident that closed down Interstate 380 for a few hours Thursday.

It happened just before 5pm in the I-380 northbound lanes, near Hiawatha. A car driven by 45 year old Jodi Houser of Walker, rear-ended a trailer being pulled by a truck. The truck was driven by 21 year old Bo Yearous of Independence, which was stopped for traffic, due to a previous accident.

Houser was trapped in the car; she was extricated, then flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City, with what are described as non-life threatening injuries. Yearous and his passenger, 20 year old Cody Southworth of Winthrop, were not hurt.

According to the Linn County Sheriff, all of the occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts.
