It has only happened one other time before Monday, but Niagara Falls has frozen over. The six million cubic feet that flows every minute over Niagara Falls has come to frigid stop.

The other time was just weeks ago. In January, a record-breaking cold front blasted through the region and halted the massive falls.

Typically, the water continues to flow over the falls despite the frigid temperatures, but Monday's high temperature of nine-degrees shut the Niagara facet off.
