Seven high school girls basketball teams from the Cedar Valley are featured in this week's rankings, released Thursday (January 23, 2014) by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Waterloo West, Waverly-Shell Rock, Dike-New Hartford, Hudson, North Butler, Janesville and Dunkerton are all ranked among the top-10 in their respective classes.

Waterloo West is sixth in Class-5A, the same rating the Wahawks had last week. Waverly-Shell Rock climbed one spot to 10th in Class-4A.

Three area teams make up the top-10 in Class-2A. Dike-New Hartford is rated sixth, Hudson is seventh and North Butler is eighth. The rankings set up a top-10 showdown Friday night (January 24, 2014) when Hudson hosts Dike-New Hartford in a marquee North Iowa Cedar League match-up.

Janesville is the highest-rated team among the seven area squads ranked. The Wildcats are ranked fourth in Class-1A, and Iowa Star Conference rival Dunkerton is rated seventh. Janesville hosts the Raiders on Tuesday (January 28, 2014).
