Hawkeye Community College has announced that it will sponsor an eSports program, beginning in the fall of 2018.

The RedTails will be the first community college eSports team in Iowa, and Hawkeye will be one of only 57 member schools of the National Association of Collegiate eSports (NACe).

Hawkeye announced the news on Twitter Monday (3/12/18) morning.

Hawkeye's new eSports program will include men and women in video game competition with other institutions.

A dedicated practice and competition space will be located in the Brock Student Center on Hawkeye's Main Campus. Games include Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Dota 2, and League of Legends – the most popular PC game in the world.

Recruitment is now underway for fall 2018 and scholarships are available. For more information, visit the Redtails Athletics page or call 319-296-4430.
