Waterloo police have arrested three suspects and seized several guns in connection with a flurry of shooting incidents that occurred in the city during a three-hour period on Tuesday (April 7, 2015).

Officers responded to reports of the first shooting just before 10 a.m. at 520 Elm Street. According to police, as officers arrived at the location, Shavondes Martin, 19, arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his neck.

Martin reported that he was shot at 520 Elm Street, but police said he refused to cooperate with the investigation. According to captain Dave Mohlis, police searched the home as part of the investigation and seized two handguns – a Glock 9mm pistol and a Taurus .38-caliber revolver.

No arrests have made in connection with the Elm Street shooting, Mohlis said.

The second report was at W. 2nd and Western streets. It was reported that subjects from two vehicles were shooting at each other. No injuries were reported, however a vehicle parked on the street was damaged.

The third incident was a report of a subject in a white vehicle firing shots at a black male near Byron Ave. and Parkview Blvd. No injuries were reported.

Police said three people were arrested following the shootings, but none of them have been charged with actually pulling the triggers.

Damion Dariyus Harris, 23, of Waterloo, was charged with possession of a firearm as a felon, carrying weapons and possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. Harris was in possession of a Mossberg .22-caliber assault rifle at the time of his arrest, police said.

Dreyan Rashad Anderson, 18, was charged with carrying weapons and interference while carrying a weapon. According to police, Anderson had a .32-caliber Smith and Western revolver in his possession when officers took him into custody.

Dequayvion Dontrell Davis, 20, was arrested for probation violation. When he was booked, police said Davis was out on bond on a previous charge of assault causing injury.

According to Mohlis, ballistic testing will be performed on the firearms that were seized for comparison to other on-going investigations. He said forensic testing and other information may lead to additional criminal charges being filed.

All of Tuesday's shooting incident remain under investigation. Anyone with information regarding any of the three cases is asked to call the Waterloo Police Investigations Division at 291-4340 (option 7) or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-TIPS (8477).
