Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle accident that injured three people in Grundy County earlier today (Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2016).

The crash occurred just before 7 a.m. on Iowa Highway 14, about one mile south of U.S. Highway 20.

Sheriff's officials said Jacob Junker, 16, of rural Cedar Falls, was driving southbound when his pick-up crossed the center line and collided with a northbound car, driven by Jeffrey Eastman, 45, of Waterloo. According to sheriff's officials, Eastman took evasive action to avoid impact, but the two vehicles collided nearly head-on.

The crash injured both drivers and a passenger in Eastman's car -- Edward Fry, 20, of Cedar Falls. All three victims were taken to the hospital in Grundy Center for treatment. Junker was later transferred to a hospital in Waterloo and Eastman and Fry were air-lifted to a hospital in Iowa City.
