Get Drunk On Your Front Porch

The Iowa Supreme Court has given you full permission to get wasted on your front porch. Yep, bet you didn’t know this, but there was a legal argument as to whether or not cops can arrest you if your drunk on your front porch.
The argument stems from a legal battle originated in our very own back yard. Back in 2013 Patience Paye called the police after an argument with her boyfriend. The cops showed up and met Paye on her front porch. Paye had been downing some alcohol and the cops eventually tested her and found he has a .267 BAC. Which as you know, is pretty sloshed. The police arrested her for public intox.
Paye appealed the conviction and the Iowa Supreme Court agreed. If you’re not in public, you can’t get arrested for public intox and your front porch is your part of your private residence, IF you don’t invite the general public there.
So, now you know. Get wasted in your yard and cause a problem, you’ll end up with public intox. Get wasted on your front porch and don’t invite random people there and you’ll be just fine.
