A popular Black Hawk County park that was closed by flooding over the weekend is expected to reopen today (Monday, Aug. 29, 2016).

Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) closed George Wyth State Park in Waterloo on Saturday due to flooding. Just east of the park, access to Brinker Lake also was closed at the same time because water from the swollen Cedar River was across the road.

With little rainfall the past 48 hours, DNR officials said they anticipated that George Wyth State Park and access to Brinker Lake would both reopen Monday, ahead of the long Labor Day holiday weekend.
