An online fund drive has been established for a Wadena youth, seriously hurt while playing football earlier this week.

Chase Aeschliman, the son of Kenny and Laine Aeschliman of Wadena, had sustained an injury while practicing with a youth sports league at the North Fayette/Valley Middle School on Monday. Chase is a sixth grader at the school this year.

Chase did not notice the injury until he went home; when he was checked out by a doctor, they discovered he sustained a concussion. To top that off, Chase then suffered a stroke.

Chase underwent surgery at a LaCrosse, Wisconsin hospital, and is apparently on the mend.

To help the family with medical expenses, a "YOUCARING" page has been set up to receive donations.

Chase's father, Kenny, is also a Fayette County Deputy; the sheriff's office has set up a link to the YOUCARING page on their Facebook site. The Bremer County Sheriff has followed suit.
