An Oelwein man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing an Independence man, sending him to the hospital.

The incident happened at about 8pm Tuesday; Independence police report that an argument, between 20 year old Domanick Fowlkes of Oelwein, and 28 year old Justin Robinson of Independence, formerly of Waterloo, took place at a residence on the northeast side of Independence.

Folwkes then left the residence on foot, but a few minutes later, he was confronted by Robinson, in the Burco Machinery sales lot. During the confrontation, Robinson was stabbed by Fowlkes; both men then left the scene, on foot.

Robinson was initially taken to the hospital in Independence, then air-cared to University hospitals in Iowa City. There was no word on his condition.

Fowlkes was later arrested, just north of Independence, by the Iowa State Patrol and Buchanan County Sheriff. He faces charges of disorderly conduct, and willful injury.

Independence police noted that both men are currently serving probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections for a previous criminal violation.
