Early Saturday morning he was on a flight headed to Minnesota. The Vancouver Canucks were in St. Paul to play the Minnesota Wild that afternoon. Waiting for Boeser when he landed was a contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The 23rd overall pick in the 2015 National Hockey League draft by the Canukcs signed it as soon as he landed.

The ink was barely dry on the three-year, entry level contract when Boeser's name was heard over the Xcel Energy Center PA as apart of the starting line up with the famous Sedin twins (Daniel & Henrik). The Minnesota native then scored his first professional goal with 8:09 left in the second period. That should help ease the sting of the over-time loss from Friday night.

Boeser became the seventh different former Waterloo Black Hawks skater to play in a the NHL this season, and he became the 19th former USHL player to have played on an Eastern Iowa team.
