A goal in the opening minutes put the Fargo Force ahead for good Thursday, December 4, 2014 and on the way to a 4-1 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks at Scheels Arena.

Using the same power player combination to score twice in the first period, the Force carried a 2-0 lead to intermission. Brody Stevens cashed in at 3:49, scoring on a two-on-one rush in transition, set up by T.J. Roo. Nearly ten minutes later, Roo fed the puck out of the left corner, and Stevens got his stick to it in the crease for his second tally of the night.

The second period followed a similar script with Fargo scoring early and late, but both goals came at even-strength. At 3:35 of the period, C.J. Hayes wheeled to the net and shoveled a chance in as Hawks goalie Trevor Gorsuch went for a pokecheck. Then with four minutes remaining, the Force struck again, when a shot by Mikey Eyssimont perched on Gorsuch’s shoulder for a moment before being batted free and into the net.

Henrik Rommel delivered the lone Waterloo goal 7:15 into the third period. Slipping behind the Force defense, Rommel lifted a shot from the left circle to the top long side corner over the glove of Mathias Israelsson. Israelsson stopped 16 other shots in the period and 41 during the game. Gorsuch finished the matchup with 23 saves.

Waterloo and Fargo get together again on Friday at Scheels Arena. The Hawks will return home next Friday, December 12th against the Sioux City Musketeers.
