After initially bowing out of two European shows due to Dave Grohl breaking his leg, Foo Fighters have now announced the cancellation of their remaining European dates. This includes a two-night stand at London's Wembley Stadium this Friday and Saturday (June 19-20), as well as performances at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium, Werchter, Belgium's Festival Park and a June 26 tour finale headlining the Glastonbury Festival.

In an interview with BBC 1, Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis revealed in a chat with host Scott Mills that there are "contingency plans in place" should Foo Fighters not be able to play. Even though Foo Fighters just announced the cancellation of their shows, it has not been revealed how the festival plans to make up for the loss.

To recap, Foo Fighters were playing a festival date when Grohl moved toward the front of the stage to get a closer look at the crowd. He stumbled awkwardly and took a scary leap off the front of the stage. He told the audience that he thought he might have broken his leg and needed some time to get checked out backstage, but promised to return to finish the set. The band then played without Grohl for a period of time, before the singer was rolled back out onstage and finished out the set sitting down.

In a statement about the cancellation, it was revealed that Grohl underwent surgery Monday (June 15) on his broken leg and that doctors required the cancellation of the remaining shows. The musician's recovery time has yet to be determined.

It is not known whether or not the band's North American dates will be affected. At present, the band has a few weeks off before their next round of shows begins. The first date of the run is their massive Fourth of July show at Washington, D.C.'s RFK Stadium. Stay tuned to see if the North American dates are affected.
