A three-vehicle accident claimed the life of an elderly New Hartford woman Monday afternoon (April 21, 2015).

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at Greenhill Road and Iowa Highway 58 in Cedar Falls, a busy intersection known as one of the city's most-dangerous.

According to Cedar Falls police, Larue Ahrenholz, 77, died in the mishap. She was a passenger in a northbound vehicle driven by her husband, Andrew Ahrenholz, 82.

Police said the crash happened as Ahrenholz was making a left turn off of Highway 58. His vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle, driven by Russell Schultz, 84.

Schultz and a female passenger were taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

According to police, a third vehicle was struck after the initial accident and received minor damage.
