Strong thunderstorm winds blew a Fayette County home partly off its foundation, trapping an elderly couple inside and injuring one on Monday (June 22, 2015).

Emergency crews were called to the rural home, southeast of Maynard, at 8:47 a.m. Upon arrival, sheriff's deputies said they discovered the house at 10846 80th St. had sustained severe damage and property owners Robert Cole, 73, and Ursula Cole, 78, were still inside the residence.

According to family members, Ursula Cole suffered two broken hips in the incident. She was initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein for treatment, and later transferred to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Robert Cole was not injured.
