A Northeast Iowa man, facing a trial next week on charges of killing four teenagers in an accident last year, has agreed to a plea deal.

25 year old Joseph Connolly of Holy Cross, faced four counts of vehicular homicide by operating while intoxicated, four counts of vehicular homicide by reckless driving, one count of causing serious injury by OWI and a count of causing serious injury by driving recklessly.

Last August, Connolly was driving a pickup near Epworth that went through a stop sign and struck a utilty vehicle, killing four 14 year old boys: Bryce Wilwert, Mitchell Kluesner, Nicholas Kramer and Sean Kenneally. Also, 2 passengers in Connolly's truck were hurt.

Connolly's trial was scheduled to start on Monday with jury selection. However today (Friday) during a noon hearing, Connolly's attorney told the judge that Connolly would plead guilty to a charge of vehicular homicide by reckless driving and serious injury by reckless driving.

As part of the plea deal, Connolly's prison sentence would not exceed ten years.
