A Fayette man is being charged with causing a one-car accident on a rural bridge, that totaled his car.

The accident was reported to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office just before 8am Tuesday (Aug. 16). It happened south of Wadena, on Bush Road.

22 year old Jacob Newman-Dekarske was driving east, when he failed to make a turn in the road. The car crossed the roadway and struck a bridge guard rail. The vehicle then spun around and collided with the bridge on the other side.

Newman-Dekarske was taken to the West Union hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

His car, a 2002 Ford Edge, was totaled.

Newman-Dekarske has been charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

The Wadena Fire Department and First Responders assisted at the scene.
