Fans were seeing triple Sunday night at Benton County Speedway as three divisions came down to three-wide finishes in exciting action on the quarter-mile on July 5, 2015.

In the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, David Brown led throughout the 20-lap feature while Corey Dripps gave chase.

Brown was dialed in on the preferred high groove while Dripps pestered him from the low side. Meanwhile, Zach Less was working through traffic and into contention following a lap five miscue that sent him to the tail of the field.

Following a caution on the 18th circuit, Brown led the field back to green while Dripps and Less pressured from the low side. The three approached the checkers three-wide with Dripps inching ahead to steal his first win of the season.

Brown was scored second ahead of Less.

After being mired in traffic throughout the first half of the 16-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event, Damon Murty made his way into the top four just prior to the midway point.

While Murty raced through the pack, Erick Knutsen paced the field with Jared Daggett in pursuit. Murty reeled in the leaders with two laps to go and then shot between the two exiting four on the final lap.

Murty surged ahead at the stripe to take the win by a bumper for his sixth win of the season. Knutsen and Daggett completed the top three.

Zach Swanson rounded out the trio of three-wide winners as he scored the first win of his career in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature.

Swanson led throughout the 15-lapper, however a pair of cautions midway through the event kept the field bunched together. That allowed Leah Wroten and Justin Wacha to race into contention.

Wroten and Wacha worked the low side of Swanson exiting turn four on the final lap, however Swanson proved too strong on the top side to hold on for victory ahead of Wroten. Wacha ran third.

Tony Olson’s dominance continued in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. Olson raced to his fifth straight local win and his 14th overall this season in that 16-lapper.

Dave Schulze and Danny Dvorak split time out front before fifth row starting Olson made his way into the lead on lap seven. He pulled away to score the win ahead of Dvorak and Curt Hilmer.

Cole McNeal earned his first local win in the BCS Micro Mod division. McNeal assumed command on the fifth of 12 laps to drive to victory ahead of Tyler Inman and Scott Beaty.

Next Sunday, July 12, is the 21st annual Hogan Memorial at Benton County Speedway. The IMCA Modified feature winner will be guaranteed $1,900 and a possible $5,000 payday.

Stock Cars will compete for $1,000 to win, while SportMods and Hobby Stocks will vie for $750 winner’s shares. Micro Mods will also see increased prize money.

The event will be draw/redraw for all five divisions. The Modifieds will be sanctioned for State, Regional and National points while the Stock Cars, SportMods and Hobby Stocks will vie for track points, as well. The Micro Mods will compete for track points.

Gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6 and racing to follow.
