A Sumner trucker is being charged with crashing his load of milk into a ditch.


The accident happened at about 9:30am Tuesday, on "C" Avenue, southeast of Arlington.

54 year old Daniel Schmitt was driving a Kenworth milk truck, when he lost control, and the vehicle rolled onto it's side in the ditch.

About 48,000 pounds of milk was spilled. The truck, owned by Sebetka Brothers Trucking in Jesup, was totaled.

Schmitt was taken by Arlington ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Schmitt is being charged with failure to maintain control. The Fayette County Sheriff investigated.
