Dirt Track Racer Power Rankings

See how you favorite Cedar Valley dirt track racer is doing. Drivers who compete at local tracks are put into the mix, and we see which driver comes out on top. Here are the points as of June11, 2014.

The main goal for this is to have fun. That's it. There is no 'super science' behind the numbers. I'm sure we could develop a complex formula that takes into account how many cars competed, weather, wind direction, and what the driver had for dinner, but that's taking things way to seriously. I just wanted to shine a spotlight on some of dirt track heroes we cheer for each and every weekend.

HOW IT WORKS:
Drivers who finish in the Top 5 each night at our area dirt tracks will earn points. Five points are awarded for a win. Four points for second. Three, two, and one for third, fourth, and fifth. Their total points will be divided by the total number of nights that the track has held a night of racing. The points will be scored starting with Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. This will give us what we are calling their 'Power Rank' score.

A perfect score is 5.000.

If a driver competes at more than one track, we will use a driver's best track Power Rank score. A driver's total points will be used as the first tie-breaker, then wins, else tied.

Only regular weekly racing nights will be included. Special nights will not be included. This is to spotlight the weekend dirt warriors.

WHICH TRACKS:
Benton County Speedway in Vinton (Sunday), Farley Speedway in Farley (Friday), Independence Motor Speedway in Independence (Saturday), and the Marshalltown Speedway in Marshalltown (Friday).
