DEVELOPING: Campus Attack Reported At Ohio State University, Suspect Dead

Nine people have been hospitalized after what was believed to be an active shooter was reported at Ohio State University's main campus in Columbus. One victim has been listed in critical condition.

Ohio State Emergency Management sent out the following tweets earlier this morning:

ABC News is reporting that two of the eight people transported have been listed in stable condition, and at least one is in critical condition--the status of the other five patients is not yet known.

Students had just returned to school Monday following Thanksgiving break.

UPDATE: ABC News reports one suspect is dead, according to the Columbus Department of Public Safety. Authorities are continuing to search the area for other possible suspects. According to CNN, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is on the ground in Columbus along with local law enforcement.

*UPDATE: 11:00 a.m.* What was initially believed to be a shooting turns out to be a stabbing (the gunshots heard were fired by responding officers). CNN's Jake Tapper reports that the crime scene has been secured and the threat has been lifted.

*UPDATE: 1:45 p.m.* From CNN:

The suspect in the Ohio State University attack rammed his car into a group of pedestrians before using a butcher knife to cut several people. At least nine people were hospitalized, including one in critical condition. "Victim injuries include stab wounds, injury by motor vehicle and other injuries that are being evaluated," OSU said.
